When we experience the miracle of salvation, God gives us a new and blessed life. He promises to give us His grace, goodness and guidance all the days of our lives.1 Although our new life is truly ”blessed”, it is necessary to clarify that ”blessed” does not mean exemption from problems, pains or sufferings. Jesus said, ”In this world you will have trouble. But take heart [be of courage]! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Jesus affirms that difficult times will come, however we can face them with courage because He is our confidence and victory in every circumstance — for better or worse (1 Jn 4:4; 5:5). And with God’s Word and grace, we also find the strength to overcome problems associated with selfish desires and sinful living.2
