The New Year of Leadership
As we move forward coming into this new year we can reflect on the blessings the Lord has given to each and everyone of us and our families. Even in these diverse times and the difficult conditions of the economy we still have a confidence that the Lord is on our side. The Psalmist tells us in 37:27-25 that we have a promise in these times even if we fall short the Lord is there to help and provide for us.
Ps 37:23-25
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the Lord upholds him with His hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old;
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
Nor his descendants begging bread.
NKJV
David knew that the Lord was there for him he had delivered the enemies into his hands and raised him up in his failures and provided in famine. As we move into this new season we are starting a new chapter in our journey and looking forward to developing the gifts and leadership qualities in each and every household. We all were created in Gods image and were given attributes of leadership and have the ability to develop these wonderful gifts. Below is a list of leadership qualities God gave man in the creation.
1. Being made in Gods image we were created to lead Gen 1:26
(Let them have dominion over the earth)
2. God commanded both male and female to have dominion. (V.27)
(Both men and women have the ability to lead, it is not gender specific)
3. We are to rule over the earth, not necessarily each other. (V.28)
(We are not to rule over each other, but over earths creatures. History is largely the story of how men and women have perverted their God given roles by trying to rule each other.)
4. All of us are to serve one another according to our gifting and purpose. (V.29-30
(God created everything for a purpose. Our general purpose is to lead, but each of us should pray to the Lord and ask of our purpose to be revealed.)
5. Each persons leadership is best exercised in his or her area of giftedness. (V.31)
When we understand our gifts, we will naturally lead in those areas where we are most productive, intuitive, comfortable and satisfied.
David writes in the 37th Psalm (The Law of Intuition). David made wise decisions. We can find in this Psalm that David trusted in the Lord displayed Faithfulness, prioritizing God and his values, committing to his plans and trusted in God with patience, didn’t fear, slow to anger, put his hope in the Lord for the final result. If we exercise these acts that David presented we will become strong in the Lord and grow up in him to the fullness of Christ.
Eph 4:12-14
12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 1
NKJV
We look forward to this new beginning and continuing our journey together in Christ to full maturity in him.
