In the same way that a continual supply of oxygen is needed for physical life, so a continual supply of the Word of God is needed for spiritual life.We find this truth in the book of James. James 1:18 James makes a rather weighty theological comment concerning how his audience became Believers in the Lord Jesus; he writes, “He chose to give us birth through the Word of truth, that we might be a kind of first-fruits of all he created” (1:18). Then in 1:21 James writes concerning the Word, “Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save your souls.”
